DOC & DOULA, FOUNDER

Byungyol “Bill” Chun, M.D., FACOG

Byungyol Chun was born at home to a teenage mother with no prior prenatal care. He often credits this beginning as a major part of his drive to become a doctor. After immigrating to the United States with his family at the age of 12, Byungyol adopted the name “Bill” after a one-time encounter with a teen neighbor who told him that she’d call him “Bill”, as it was easier to pronounce. Bill spent his adolescence in Ohio before matriculating at the United States Naval Academy. After years of hard work, Bill began his medical training at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Boston City Hospital, where he honed his skills as a women’s healthcare provider to a diverse population of women.

Today, Dr. Chun has 30 years of experience as an OBGYN and has worked in communities north of Boston for the past twenty-five years. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and currently treats patients at Women’s Healthcare of Woburn, his private practice. Dr. Chun is a skilled surgeon who performs minimally-invasive robotic surgeries.

Dr. Chun Believes that every woman is her own best healthcare advocate and that the key is education- about both an individual’s health and about our healthcare system in the United States. This desire to empower his patients drives Dr. Chun to find ever-expanding avenues for education. Doc & Doula is a venture born of this drive and his many years of experience.
